Greg Daniels presents an American situation comedy, THE OFFICE, a modified version of the BBC series THE OFFICE. This sitcom represents the day-to-day life of the office employees in Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
Aired on 24th March 2005, this is a mockumentary which replaced the daily sitcom Committed on NBC. The show captured the pulse of the viewers as progressed further and turned out into a huge hit among the masses. The viewership was so only increasing and this is what compelled the producers to spin off new episodes for season 5, aired on the 25th day of September.
Michael Scott is shown to be the Head of the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, who holds a misconception that his presence brings life to the office! But unfortunately, his colleagues and employees highly disagree with this perception of his! Jim Halpert, Michaels Assistant Manager is dating Pam Beesly, the office receptionist. He proposes her and she readily accepts the same. After three seasons of friendship, their relationship arrives accompanied with romantic anxiety.
An authoritarian and very well known for his science fiction fandom, Dwight Schrute plays the character of an assistant to the regional manager and is shown to be an award winning salesman and former Lackawanna County volunteer reserve deputy sheriff.
Ryan Howard who got associated with the Scranton office as a temporary worker, succeeding that got promoted to Dunder Mifflins Vice President for Regional sales, lands up as a temporary worker as he gets exposed in a fraudulent case
When the first season of the show was aired, the New York Daily News called it “so diluted there’s little left but muddy water”, and USA Today called it a “passable imitation of a miles-better BBC original”. However, the transition from negative to positive reactions was seen as the sitcom moved further, catching the attention of the viewers. At present the mockumentary denies you to keep a straight face while watching it and is continuing to draw rave reviews.
