Most fans agree that The Emperor’s New Groove lived up to its tagline: “nuttier than a holiday fruitcake!” It was a highly regarded, if not ultimately successful, animated feature, and the first Disney animated film to ever feature a pregnant woman. Released in December 2000, The Emperor’s New Groove mixes a careful balance of humor designed to appeal both to adults and children. It marked the 39th film in Disney’s canon and was initially slated to be a traditional musical along the lines of The Lion King. Though the title refers to the Danish fairytale, The Emperor’s New Clothes, by Hans Christen Andersen, the original story was based on Mark Twain’s The Prince and the Pauper. The initial incarnation of the project was titled Kingdom of the Sun, with the creative team behind The Lion King, director Roger Allers and producer Randy Fullmer, at the helm. So prestigious was the production that Allers and Fullmer contracted Sting to write the music for the film.
Kingdom of the Sun centered on the emperor Manco, voiced by David Spade, switching places with a humble peasant, Pacha, voiced by Own Wilson. The evil witch, Yzma, voiced by Eartha Kitt, turns Manco into a llama and twists the naive Pacha to do her bidding, which involved a gruesome ritual that would block out the sun forever, thereby saving her from ever aging. Manco, now a llama, learns humility, while Pancha falls in love with the emperor’s betrothed, Nina, voiced by Carla Gugino. This initial incarnation tested so poorly that Disney suspended any further production. Feedback indicated the film suffered from a lack of direction and the tried-and-true Prince and the Pauper formula proved too stale.
Disney hurriedly hired Mark Dindal, the director of Cats Don’t Dance, to create a more original take on the production. Unfortunately, this new comedic take was in direct opposition to Allers’s dramatic vision. The uneven storyline was met with disdain, especially from then-chief, Michael Eisner. By the summer of 1998, it was apparent to all parties involved that Kingdom of the Sun was not going to make its Summer 2000 deadline. Failure to make the deadline would have jeopardized lucrative promotional deals with the likes of McDonald’s and Coca-Cola. Allers was denied a six month extension, Prompting him to quit the production and subsequently opening the door to Dindal’s off-beat comedic conception. The Emperor’s New Groove was born.
The changes were fast and furious. Owen Wilson’s character was written out while David Spade’s character was renamed Kuzco, and given the lead role. The Prince and Pauper angle was shelved, and Pacha was recast with the voice of John Goodman. Yzma and her henchman Kronk were tweaked while the emperor-as-llama idea was used to great comedic effect. The end result is perhaps one of the most original Disney movies to date. Indeed, it’s been lauded as one of the funniest.
Though not a remarkable blockbuster, it did recover its estimated $100 million budget, and did enjoy a nomination for Best Song for Sting’s “My Funny Friend and Me.” The Emperor’s New Groove did prove successful enough to warrant a sequel, Kronk’s New Groove, though it was a direct-to-video release. In 2006, the premise was reconceived as a television series, entitled The Emperor’s New School.

Was there every a time where you were unable to watch that TV episode you wanted to see because you were doing something else? In the past if you had missed that episode you would have to wait for reruns: now that is no longer the case. Past TV episodes are now being put online for people to watch.
TV stations are putting episode after episode online for the masses to watch from the computer. Now you don’t have to worry about not being home to watch your show. Although you have probably used a VCR or DVR in the past to record missed shows, you can’t possibly record every channel at the same time.
Networks like NBC, FOX, CBS and others are uploading the episodes on the internet. You can browse their sites and see some of the shows that you missed listed and selectable to view. This gives you more control to watch the TV you want when you want.
Most people are not fans of commercials. If you are not a fan of commercials, you will also enjoy watching TV on your computer.
By having fewer commercials with the episodes online you now have more total time to watch TV and you can probably squeeze in a few extra episodes here and there..
If you think watching TV from your computer screen won’t be as good as your TV, don’t worry. Most computer monitors look just as nice if not better than TV sets. The performance of most computers is also good enough to run the TV shows smoothly.
Even if you only have dial-up internet you will find few problems with viewing shows online. If you have broadband then the sky is the limit and you will be able to watch the shows in larger windows or even full screen.
If you are interested in TV shows to watch online you will be able to skip out on most commercials, not have to schedule your time around your TV shows, and you can enjoy a quick loading video with good, TV quality picture.

HDTV Stands Housing your Home Theater
Alright, so you’ve convinced yourself into buying that new LCD or plasma HDTV. You’re spending more than a thousand dollars on it, and you’re convinced it’s going to look great in your living room. However when you bring it home, you realize that your old wood stand looks antiquated and ugly holding up that sleek, almost futuristic screen. You need something snazzy for it, and for pittance more, you can buy an HDTV stand that will complement your HDTV perfectly, giving it the look you’ve always wanted it to have.
Features and Looks
HDTV stands combine sleek looks with strong materials and easy accessibility for the perfect combination to complement your home theater. Many have metal frames which can hold hundreds of pounds (more than your HDTV will ever need, but it’s nice to know that nothing will break the stand), and glass panels allow your DVD players and surround sound receivers to receive commands from your remote control, so you don’t have to open up the HDTV stand just to use your television. Not only that, but glass has a very futuristic feel, and newer manufacturing processes have resulted in stronger materials, so you don’t have to worry about it breaking.
Of course, if you don’t like the whole steel and glass look, you can always go with a wooden HDTV stand. Many of these can include glass as well if you so choose, or you can buy entirely wood HDTV stands, but you won’t get the added benefit of being able to use devices inside the stand without opening up the doors. While a small point, many people do enjoy the convenience. On the other hand, many people do not enjoy looking at their electronics as they watch movies or television, or they might think that they look ugly and would like to hide them behind pristine wood doors.
So what would you expect to pay for these HDTV stands? Hundreds of dollars? Other pieces of furniture can cost thousands, and you will probably only pay two or three hundred for a beautiful television stand, and the metal stands are generally cheaper than the wooden ones. In fact, many television companies sell their HDTVs with stands because it’s more affordable for them to bundle products together, and you can often get great deals on HDTV stands when you buy an HDTV.
Of course, an HDTV stand should be the last item on your list when purchasing a new television. The quality of the other components comes first, and you’d probably be less happy with a stand than with beautiful, crystalline sound coming from that awesome new surround sound system. Depending on your budget, you might have to choose which part of your home theater you can’t afford at the moment, and at the very least, you’ll probably find it beneficial to buy a cheap HDTV stand as opposed to skimping out on other audio and video components.

Learning about Magnavox HDTV
Why purchase a new Magnavox HDTV? Because in early 2009 all television networks will begin broadcasting in only high definition. At the same time television manufacturers will be required to only build high definition TV’s. The Magnavox has one of the clearest pictures on the market today.
The older analog type of television is not capable of displaying programming for HDTV. Instead, people can only view programs that would come through on satellite, cable, or regular television. On the other hand, with high definition, viewers can still view standard television programming, as well as HDTV signals and progressive scan DVD. Because this is the wave of the future, almost all new television sets use this special programming to include Plasma and LCD high definition television.
In able to receive any show being broadcast you will have to purchase either a Magnavox HDTV or other HDTV. You may be able to make your current analog television receive HD programs by adding an adapter tuner at a cost of over $125.
After February 2009 when a huge number of older television sets become obsolete their owners will have to make plans to replace them. You can bet that there will be a market for ‘conversion hardware’ to enable the use of ‘analog’ sets with the new HD Broadcast Technology.
The Magnavox HDTV adapter box receives over-the-air digital TV broadcasts for viewing on a TV that does not have a built-in digital tuner. This allows those who cannot afford to or do not want to purchase an HDTV before February 2009 to still receive programming. A TV with the HD adapter will not produce pictures with as high a resolution though.
While it is possible to see the lines that make up standard television pictures, HDTV lines are not at all noticeable. The fine-grained HD picture contains five times more information than does the standard television picture and is accompanied by multi-channel, CD quality sound. The difference in video and sound quality is dramatic.
A frame or field rate can also be specified without a resolution. For example 24p means 24 progressive scan frames per second, and 50i means 25 interlaced frames per second consisting of 50 interlaced fields per second.
Knowing the technical jargon before going shopping should help when making your final decision. Hopefully you are a little clearer and not more confused about HDTV. We believe after doing your research on the HDTV brands available you will come to the same conclusion we have. The Magnavox HDTV may well have the most crystal clear HD picture when compared to the rest.

ATVs have become a “household” sports and almost every person in the country have either heard of it or rode on one. If you and your family members have been itching to get your hands on good ATVs with reasonable prices and see for yourself what you can get from them at wholesale prices. Not every ATV dealer in town is able to offer you ATVs at wholesale prices, but only ATV dealers that manufacture and produce their own machines are able to do that and Jackel Motorsports is just that kind of ATV dealer.
ATV wholesalers are also one stop centers for all your ATV needs. All you need to do is just give them a call or visit them at their websites to see what ATV models and warranty for their machines that they have to offer. In fact, a reliable ATV dealer or wholesaler is one that is able to provide you with after sales service and assure you that no matter what your needs are for your ATVs, they are always ever ready to assist you. With retailers, the prices are usually fixed and you can’t really squeeze them for more discounts.
Of course, while you are on your hunt for ATVs be it from wholesalers or retailers, there are a few things about ATVs that you should know too. It would be a great idea if you sit down with your family members and get their thoughts all written down so that it would make your search for an ATV wholesaler a lot easier, because with the list, you would be able to gauge if the ATV wholesaler that you are dealing with is able to meet the needs of you and your family members.
There are over fifteen million ATV enthusiasts in the United States, as that number will probably grow in the upcoming years. In fact, if every rider takes a few minor steps, ATVs can have a minimal impact on the environment. ATVs are often described as being harmful to the environment, but that does not have to be the case.
Here are some basic tips. Also, try to stick in the middle of the trail you’re riding. You can minimize the impact on the surrounding environment if you stick to these designated areas. These ruts will only grow with subsequent riders, so it is best not to contribute to the problem.
Always be sure to pack out what you packed in. You should also carry a trash bag to pick up litter left by others. You should not leave anything behind when you leave the trail.

If you are not living under a rock for the last month, you already know Michael Phelps, the swimming Olympics gold medal winner. The search for Michael Phelps and Phelps poster has gone through the roof in the last few days. A clear indication that Phelps’ poster will be seen in the dorm rooms and on the walls of sports fans of high schools starting this fall. The interesting part is that it is not about Phelps poster only. Michael Phelps’ popularity actually made people look up for all the swimming Olympics gold medal winners.
Even though fall is not the time for high school swimming, the pools will be busier than ever. This 21 year old Baltimore resident, Michael Phelps, is the reason for that. Swimming Olympics gold medal winner Mark Spitz won seven gold medals in a single Olympics, Phelps has broken that record. He has broken the record of winning seven gold medals in a single Olympics.
Michael Phelps wants to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan. The way Jordan made basketball popular among everyone, Phelps wants do to the same thing for swimming. His Olympics performance has done the initial job by creating a buzz. He wants to make permanent. He has already decided to spend a portion of the million dollar endorsement he received from Speedo swimwear to increase the popularity of swimming. His true love for the game is making him more popular among fans.
If you look up for Michael Phelps posters, there are over thousands of them. There are some really cool ones among them. Phelps in the pool, holding his medal, posing for the camera, even autographed ones. Autographed ones are the most popular, understandably. The best part of it all probably is the fact that he is not only a true champion, but he is a young and good looking guy. It is hard to tell among which gender Phelps is more popular, but the way Phelps made America proud, he deserves to be people’s number one choice.

The days of watching TV from the local station airwaves have long gone. Now, we’re watching TV from digital cable and those signals that come from outer space. Times have changed, haven’t they?
Satellite TV has become popular because it is 100% digital. The resulting reception is many times better than cable. Plus, satellite TV offers more channels than cable providers which includes more international and sports programming. Satellite TV also offers high definition TV
There are two major networks that vie for the position of providing satellite TV services. They are Direct TV and Dish Network. As a consumer, it’s never really easy to choose from two companies that offer nearly the same products and have nearly the same credibility.
But just like all competitors, these two have slight differences which some subscribers might find as the turning point to guide them with their decision. It really boils down on preferences of subscribers, their specific needs and the present promos being offered.
It would be best, of course, to research fully each advantage and disadvantage of subscribing to each network.
For pricing, DISH Network has a slight advantage over Direct TV. DISH Network has a lower starting package rate. DISH offers a family satellite TV package starting at $19.99 while the competition begins at $29.99. Nevertheless, Direct TV’s $34.99 is good for 150+ digital channels while DISH’s $32.99 package only covers 100 digital channels.
However, with regards to programming both networks have more than 200 channels in their premium packages. But Direct TV is slightly ahead of DISH when it comes to sports programming. Still, DISH is slowly closing the gap between Direct TV.
The DISH Network has included a lot of sports channels in their packages in that past few years and pretty soon, it would be able to compete head-on with Direct TV. With regards to local channel coverage, both networks seem to satisfy their clients with their local television programming. Both DISH and Direct TV offers excellent coverage but have slightly differences in per month subscription.
If you’re going to subscribe to either of the two, you should also look at the cities that both networks have full coverage. DISH Network has access to some cities that Direct TV does not, and vice versa.
Wherever they have access to, DISH and Direct TV can deliver an all digital quality programming right to the subscribers’ homes, in airports, in restaurants, in hotels, in offices, in hospitals, and even inside airplanes and automobiles.
Satellite TV comes with it other advanced or sophisticated equipment like digital video recorders or DVRs which allows you to pause and rewind the live program that you are watching.
DVRs also can record any program that you want. For DISH Network subscribers, this additional equipment comes free with their packages while Direct TV charges a monthly fee to have the technology.
Regarding quality of service, both networks offer a 12 month-warranty on all equipment starting on the day of activation. Both also boast of a 24 hour customer support line as well as professional and well-mannered customer and sales representatives.
Do yourself a favor, look into getting Dish Network or DirecTV today. The great thing about getting a subscription early on is that you get to lock in your price for a long time. I’m still paying the same rate that I was paying 3 years ago.

It’s unbelievable how Satellite TV has made a huge impact on our daily lives. I remember the good old times when I used to watch TV from the local airwaves. While local TV still does exist, my kids don’t even know about those kind of things. They’ve been brought up watching TV from those TV signals that come in from outer space. How cool is that?

If you need easy connectivity for your TV or other technical appliances then an antenna or a satellite dish is great for such purposes. You can easily invest in a good quality antenna or dish and enjoy a host of entertainment options in the comfort of your own home! The great thing about antennas and dishes is that they have the receptivity to collect signals and reception from televisions stations located miles away! Installation of a satellite dish or an antenna can save you on big bucks.
However, before you go about the process of installation, there are a couple of factors to be considered. This will avoid any chances of future complications or safety issues later on.
1. The site for installation. One of the most important factors to consider while installing a satellite dish or an antenna is to have a free way path so the dish can easily pick up signals. A clear area between satellites and the dish surface will ensure good reception quality.
2. How to select the right location. The place you ultimately select for the installation needs to be completely free from any electrical wiring or lines. At the same time there needs to be provision for easy accessibility. This also offers a way for easy repairing in future when your dish has some problems with it.
3. Access to optimal equipment and tools. Most of the time it is only necessary to connect 3 portions to have optimal functioning of the dish or antenna. The first part is the actual antenna or dish, the second is the coax cable which is a means to connect the TV and the dish and the third is a receiver which is plugged into the TV directly. While connecting take care to ensure that the antenna is as close to the TV as is possible. Make sure to measure the cable length to ensure that it easily reaches the antenna or the dish from inside your own home.
4. Which direction to point the dish? Often pointing the antenna or dish in the wrong direction can mean losing out on reception altogether. The recommended direction is usually an angle ranging from 25 to 50 degrees and this can be easily measured with a compass. You can avail a compass along with the package that comes with the installation kit.
5. Safety concerns matter the most. Installing your dish or antenna will require you to climb on the roof. Thus safety is of utmost concern here and you need to take adequate steps to ensure you do not fall down. If it has rained or if the weather outside is cold, it is advisable not to go on the roof. The roof could be slippery because of rain or snow. Ensure you have a sturdy ladder which does not give way while climbing up. make sure a family member holds down the ladder for added safety. Also ensure to buy shoes which have a good grip over the surface. This will further prevent any chances of slipping down.
