How Easy Is It To Watch TV On Your PC?

Since everyone is really trying to pinch their pennies these days there are a lot of things getting thrown away as luxuries. Some people are starting to think of things like cable TV, which can run around $100 dollars a month, as a luxury as well. As luck would have it, if you own your own computer and have internet access then you don’t have to miss out on the best shows if you have to give up on cable.

There are also some television websites, such as ABC’s website, that will allow you to watch entire episode of their most popular shows for free. You don’t have to download any special programs. However, there are a few catches. Sometimes they will only show their latest broadcasts. Some channels, too, will only let you watch the shows if you are in the United States. This can be a drag if you are in another country and want to catch up on the show that you missed.

You can also download some shows on iTunes. They cost about $1 to download, and you have to download the iTunes application, but once you have done this, the shows are you to keep. You can watch them over and over, even if you are in another country.

Some places offer new hardware and software that can let you get all of the cable channels on your computer. One of the biggest advantages to this is that you only have to pay for the system once and you get to use it the rest of the time. These programs are basically known as “streaming-media.” They catch the airwaves with the programs and decode them onto your screen in a picture format

An incentive to using software like this is that once you have paid for it, you can install it on all of your computers. That means that if you have a PC as well as a laptop you can install it on your laptop and take it with you when you travel.

There is a downside to watching TV on your computer however. Normally, your computer is set up in an office setting and the chair might not be comfortable. It’s also a little less relaxing than the cozy stetting of your living room. But some people find it just as enjoyable and others have found it easier to connect their computer up to their TV screen itself.

On occasion, you might also find it more difficult to drift off into the show then if you were watching TV. There are also a lot of things to take your attention from the show on the Internet, whereas with a TV you just have to surf the channels during the breaks.

Of course, with watching TV on the Internet, you oftentimes don’t get commercials. It is possible to download television episodes and, of course, movies without any interruptions.

Windows Vista offers a DVR that some people claim works better than the ones that cable companies currently offer. You can add an HDTV antenna and record your favorite shows right to your computer. You can also streamline shows from ABC, Fox, and other popular channels. Doing this could possibly cut down on the need for cable.

The best thing about watching features on your computer is that it costs either nothing, or a lot less than basic cable. Even if you do choose to download fee system or software, the upfront fee that you pay is still a lot less than what you would pay for cable.
