I didn’t understand the end as Kara Thrace dying…

I thought the bottom line was that Kara Thrace was, to this day, in all of us. That we all have a special destiny.
Hence Lee’s words: “Goodbye Kara Thrace. You won’t be forgotten”…

It’s very unique for its nuances & its use of different musical styles & instruments that one wouldn’t normally hear in a science fiction soundtrack.

Babylon 5′s soundtrack / score ( Christopher Franke ) runs a close second to BSG’s, though, Just IMHO.
